Hello all,
I am writing to gather opinions on Total Surface Bearing sockets. In our practice, the traditional PTB style socket has always been used. In the meetings that I have attended recently, it appeared (workshops and lectures) that a large number of practitioners/companies we using or endorsing the TSB style socket.
I am particularly interested in the following:
1--How many practitioners use this modification technique as their primary style?
2--When or what types of patients do you feel benefit from this technique the most?
3--Does limb shape, volume, etc. factor into your decision?
4--What casting technique do you use?
5--What modification technique do you use?
Any and all responses will be greatly appreciated and shared with the prosthetic and orthotic community.
Sincerely,
Robert Schiff, C.P.O., L.P.O.
