I received several repsonse to my inquiry about coding the CROW walker. Many
asked for a copy of the responses so I have listed them below:

L1960, Pretib shell or ptb(forgot code),L2820,L2999 for custom removable
orthotic and L2999 for rocker sole similar to Lcodes depicting attachment to
shoe Also, for medicare patients they cannot be used for ulcer management
Also L2275 if appropriate varus valgus


I use
L1960, Solid AFO
L2280, Molded inner boot
L2340, Pretibial Shell
L2820, Molded Interface, BK
A5503, Rocker Sole, Diabetic
and A5506, Offset Heel, because I outflair the soling

Custom Solid Ankle AFO
Anterior Shell
Below knee interface
Rocker bottom sole
Custom Plastazote insole

We code L1960, pretibial shell
code, bk foam lining and as unlisted codes: 1 heel and sole lift,
rocker bottom, custom foot orthotic.

AOPA coding seminar has specified CROW billing recommendations and identified
it as a potentially confusing scenario. If you are an AOPA member, call
