ORTHOTICS/PROSTHETICS TECHNICIAN I
Univeristy of Michigan Orthotics and Prosthetics Center
Ann Arbor, MI
DUTIES:
Fabrication and repair of custom AFO's and KAFO's, and some protheses.
Additional duties as experience and interest allow: Integration of robotics
technology, computer programming and gait analysis. Operate machinery such
as drill presses, cutters, grinders, lathes and polishers.
NOTE: This position will be employed to primarily work within a grant from
the Department of Kinesiology in fabricating research-designed orthoses.
The current end date for the grant is 7/31/06. If renewed, the position
could continue for an additional 4-5 years. Also, this position is located
at 2850 S. Industrial Hwy., Suite 400 in Ann Arbor, under the aspects of
the UMOPC.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have experience with carbon fiber lamination and interest in cutting
edge research on new orthotics and prosthetics technology. Courses in
shopwork in metal and plastics are desirable. Completion of a one year
course in the construction and repair of orthoses/prostheses or equivalent
experience is desirable.
