Hi List members-
Does anyone know if Medicare is in contact with our profession when
it makes policy decisions that effect us? For instance does anyone know
anyone who if anyone was consulted regarding the fees associated with
the Lumbo Sacral Orthoses K codes? If anyone knows the behind the
scenes facts of how that came about, we should all be made aware,
because it is bound to continue for other procedure codes unless we get
a heads up BEFORE such decisions are made.
I heard that Medicare factored in the Online cost of cheap look
alike devices. If so, this is totally inappropriate because purchasing
such devices online would NOT be covered by Medicare. It is my
understanding that their benefits include not only the device itself but
also the labor of a professional to assure proper fit and function.
By the way, I understand that Royal Medical in addition to DeRoyal
has discontinued it's affiliation with NOMA. (a manufacturers' lobbying
group that counters licensure and AOPA's efforts to increase
qualifications standards ). Has anyone heard of others who have decided
to leave NOMA?
How would one go about learning who are members of NOMA? Freedom of
Information Act?
