ORIGINAL POST
It's getting harder to find appropriate shoes to attach to metal
stirrups. If you can find leather soled shoes, they're getting pricey.
For leather uppered shoes, what brand names/models have you found to
hold up adequately when attached to double upright orthoses? Thanks,
Randy McFarland, CPO, Fullerton, CA
Additional comment- We are having to reinforce most shoes to add a
stirrup. Which shoes are already appropriately constructed for adding a
stirrup?
RESPONSES
if your technical skills are what they should be, you can put daaj on
just about any shoe. If they are not, we at HOPE will be happy to help,
the patient is first , what ever shoes they went to ware. Daniel

fit at the store
first, then bring the shoes they purchased to us for the attachment of
the
uprights. That way there is no problem in the shoe not fitting, and no
problem in reimbursement for shoes. Don

They are VERY well made... but a bit expensive...Steve
Alden or P.W. Minor
I use and prefer the PW Minor shoes.
We use P W Miinor, they have a couple of styles that are made with
leather soles.
When we make custom shoes and we need to attach a stirrup or caliper we
add a midsole to the shoe. This is a firm but flexible piece of
plastic, about 1/8 in thickness. The rivets for the stirrup or caliper
hold well against this layer. I am sure that such a midsole layer
could be attached to off-the-shelf extra depth shoes, providing that you
can remove the sole without damaging the upper. If you have any
questions please feel free to call me.
