Title:
Prosthetic costs analysis question

Text:
I have a patient that is in the middle of a court battle over an action which
cost him his leg. I recently was asked form his attorney to provide a
perspective of what cost might be incurred over the next 40 years of his natural
life. This is a patient in his mid thirties that is a high class four activity
level. He wants to have the best and stay up with new technology. Has anyone used
a formula to average the costs of a prosthetic user with these types of
issues? Can technology be factored in? What could that cost be? If I were doing
this analysis in the 50's the cost of energy storing feet would offset my
schedule. What if new innovations create a cost of exponential proportions? I am
probably thinking too much but the patient deserves nothing but the best from me.
Can anyone lend any insight on this. Thanks in advance.
