Greetings,
Anyone out there doing burn masks from the clear, thermoplastics? I did a
few, too many years ago, but am out of touch with the technology.
Need help with a little girl (10) who about 6 weeks ago, sustained a
GSW(Shotgun) to the left side of her neck resulting in the loss of SCM
muscle and 70% of her clavicle. She is healing well, but has
hyper-trophic scarring running from the middle of her chin, along the jaw
line, then downward along the site of her missing clavicle about 2/3 of
the way to her shoulder. Our compression garment specialist has measured
for compression garments with strategically placed gel pads, but in our
assessment of the head-tilt to the left side which she is developing
from the scar tension, my sense is that she needs something more rigid,
yet discrete, which the compression garments cannot provide alone. We
have considered a cervical collar to be worn over the top of the garment,
but that's not very discrete and it would likely make the whole thing just
to hot and miserable to tolerate. The thermoplastic , modified mask seems
more appropriate to me, but like I said earlier, I am out of touch with
that approach. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
