The Amputee Coalition of America has an entire department devoted to helping
amputees connect with each other which may be of assistance to the lady you
are referring too.

Your client can go to <URL Redacted>
and search our database of support groups in the United States, Canada, the
UK, Jordan, Hungary, Columbia, Bermuda and Australia. The name of the
support group and a form of contact is included on the webpage. More
detailed information may be available by calling an information specialist
at the ACA.

She can also go to <URL Redacted> to learn
more about our online support group which meets regularly. To register for
the support group, please see
<URL Redacted> and download the form
which must be signed by her doctor or prosthetist stating she is an amputee.
Criteria for participation and guidelines for the support group can also be
found there.

You can also suggest that she call the ACA toll-free at 888/AMP-KNOW
(888/267-5669) where she can request that one of our certified peer visitors
call or e-mail her.

Please feel free to contact us any time we can be of assistance!

Subject: [OANDP-L] client looking for support

Dear Friends,
I have a 40-ish year old female client who was born with PFFD. She spent
much of her time in hospital as a child ending up with a very long
transfemoral residual limb. She has been a successful TF prosthetic user for
years. Unfortunately, she feels quite alone at times in her daily life and
has requested your help. Do you have any clients her age with similar
histories. I think she really needs an online friend to talk to, to help her
cope with her life situations. She has a computer with email and internet
access and would like to find a reliable friend (or support group.)
I look forward to your responses. Thanks in advance.
 Sincerely,
       Kristin Schafer, CP(c)
