To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Vinh Luu, M.D.. I am the Battalion Surgeon for Task Force 2-27
IN, 3BCT. I am currently overseeing all medical operation at the clinic
in Orgun-E FOB, Province of Paktika, Afghanistan. Our mission is to treat
US soldiers and also provide humanitary medical care to the local people.
The majority of our daily workload comes from the local Afghanistans. As
you are aware that there is a great deal of trauma cases here in
Afghanistan, either gunshot wounds or accidents and burns. There is also
a significant number of injuries from explosive devices, especially
landmines. I saw a number of patients, some of them are children, who
suffered spontaneous amputation of the limbs from explosive blast. These
unfortunate accidents cause a tremendous disability to the youngsters who
are already at their financial disadvantage. Because they come from this
remote village and its vicinities, they have no resources, especially in
regard to medical care and rehabilitation. I am looking for organizations
that can provide further humanitarian effort in providing prosthesis and
follow up care so these children can regain function of their limbs. I am
interested in referring these children to you for further assistance.
Please fell free to contact me via this email address to discuss further
concern or questions you may have.
Sincerely yours,
Vinh Luu, MAJ, MC
Battalion Surgeon
TF 2-27, 3BCT
