A pt. appeared today with bilateral knee pain. A young overweight
female, she had received Townsend Unloaders and also Berg Patella
stabilizing K.O.'s in the past. I have used the patella tracking knee
braces for just this problem in the past. Pt. is in good health, with no
impairment in any muscle groups.
On ambulation you can hear a clicking sound in latter stance which is
extremely painful to this patient, to the extent she quits walking
altogether. The patella stabilizing braces do no good for the patient in
their normal configuration, with the forcing C on the lateral border
of the patella.
I'd appreciate your insights as to a proper knee brace for this patient
and also exactly what might be causing this noisy situation. On
palpation I could not feel anything unusual during while touching the
patella borders in gait.
Thank you for your insights,
