STARTING JUNE 14, THE NATION'S 16,000 MEDICAL SCHOOL GRADUATES IN THE
CLASS OF 2005 WILL BE TESTED ON THEIR
BEDSIDE MANNER.
The new clinical skills assessment test, which will become part of the
licensing exam for graduating medical students, will use actors playing
patients with symptoms of common illnesses and will gauge a graduate's
ability to communicate with patients, gather information, perform
physical exams and diagnose illnesses, reported the Wall Street Journal.
The first of five national test centers will open in Philadelphia, while
graduates from all 126 medical schools across the country will go to one
of the centers for the daylong test, the Journal added. Wall Street
Journal, June 10, 2004
