information from The World Bank as public service announcement (PSA), in
fulfillment of OPAF's official representation of O&P in community and
philanthropic circles. OPAF aims primarily to enable individuals with
physical disabilities - especially those served by members of the U.S.
orthotics and prosthetics community - to enjoy the rewards of personal
interaction, physical fitness, and social interaction. Complete
information about OPAF is available at <URL Redacted>.

Dear colleagues:
I am writing to you today with a save the date message as we at the
World Bank are preparing a meeting and celebration for this year's
United Nations (UN) Day of Disabled Person's on Disability &
Development.
The event will be held in Washington D.C., at the World Bank
headquarters, on November 30 2004 and constitutes the follow-up to the
December 2002 event (view proceedings at this link):

There has been some exciting work evolving in the disability and
development community which we hope will be able to further our work to
reduce global poverty for disabled people. It is our expectation that
the activities which will be held in the Bank will include many of our
partners. The day will enable us to discuss progress, confront
challenges and opportunities in order to bring this important work
forward. The progress which we have been making is because of the
increased interest in disability and development across a whole host of
development agencies, civil society, UN family and donors.
We will provide information regarding the November meeting over the
coming months through our website. In the meantime, please mark your
calendar for this date to join us in Washington. Please also share this
notice with your colleagues.
We would also appreciate knowing if your organization is planning any
activities for the UN Day. Please send your information to:
