Spotlight on a NIDRR-Funded Project
Each month, the NCDDR plans to spotlight a NIDRR grantee that has
resources included in the Electronic Library. This month we take a
closer look at the Northwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury System
The Northwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury System, centered at the
University of Washington's Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, is one
of 16 Model Spinal Cord Injury Centers funded by the National Institute
on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), U.S. Department of
Education, to pool knowledge and resources and provide specialized care
to persons with SCI.
The project provides state-of-the-art medical, surgical, rehabilitation,
and long-term follow-up care to Northwest residents with SCI;
participates in the National Spinal Cord Injury Statistical Center,
which collects and combines data from all 16 Model SCI centers; and
conducts research into various aspects of SCI diagnosis and care. The
project also publishes articles and patient education materials in its
newsletter and on its Web site.
The NCDDR Electronic Library includes 89 resources from the Northwest
Regional Spinal Cord Injury System.
To search the Electronic Library access the following link,
