Dear list serve,

Recently, OPGA has teamed with Marlo Ortiz, creator of the Marlo Ortiz
Anatomical Socket (M.A.S.*) in order to make available this outstanding new
socket design to the O&P profession on a wide-scale basis. An initial
course was hosted in January by OPGA and O&P1 in Waterloo, IA. It was
taught by Marlo Ortiz, and attendees included John Michael, CPO from CPO
Services, Inc., Andy Steele, CPO from O&P1, Agnes Curran, CP from OPGA, Brad
Rosenberger, CPO and Randy Brown, CP from Nebraska O&P Services, Bob
Tillges, CPO from Tillges Certified P&O, and Matt J. Hutchings, CP from
Clark & Associates. Dennis Clark, CPO attended the planning session
immediately following the course.

For those of you not familiar with the M.A.S.* socket, it is a revolutionary
new socket design created and patented by Marlo Ortiz from Guadalajara, MX.
Marlo and his socket design were featured at the AAOP National Meeting in
the Thranhardt lecture series and generated significant interest amongst the
attending practioners. To read more about the socket design, read a recent
article in the O&P Edge at

ortiz>.

The course was an overwhelming success and all attendees agreed that the O&P
profession and many transfemoral patients would benefit greatly from this
new socket design. OPGA will be offering a two-day course to be held at
O&P1 in Waterloo, IA and will be taught by Marlo Ortiz and John Michael so
that all independent practitioners and their patients might benefit from
this new design. Dates for 2004 are September 10-11 and November 12-13.
Additional seminars will be held in 2005 in different regions of the U.S.
Attendees will receive 13.25 Category I CEUs from ABC. Attendance will be
limited at each seminar.

Two separate tiers will be offered for prospective attendees. 1.)
Hands-on course, which will include patient casting, modifications, and
fitting of two test sockets, and 2.) Observers which will be able to
observe the patient aspects of the seminar and participate in all classroom
lectures.

If you would like more information about the course, please contact me via
