Hallelujah!!!
Mr. Sheret has made the point that it doesn't matter what letters are after
your name if your competent in making a good fitting prosthesis. I can't
believe nobody has brought this up yet (although I've only read about 50 of
the 75 emails on this). I see the point the ABC guys are making and
understand that they have made some sacrifices to fulfill all the
requirements to getting those precious letters after there name. What I
don't get is did those guys become better practitioners the day they passed
the test? Did somebody wave a wand over there heads and immediately all the
prosthetics from that day forward fit perfect with no complaints? NOPE! We
were all just as good prior to the test as we were the day that certificate
arrived in the mail. I've worked with companies that employed good and bad
ABC/BOC people and to me it doesn't matter what letters are after your name.
I was fitting patients successfully before I took my exam, and if it wasn't
for licensure in my state I may not be certified today. I was trained by
good Prosthetists and Orthotists and everyone on this list knows it's
experience that makes you better in your field, the testing only shows that
you can retain what you've studied. The funny thing about all the bashing on
BOC is I would bet mostly every facility owner on this thread has at least
one BOC employee working for him. I think it's time to pay attention to what
Mr. Sheret is saying and get on the ball about giving our patients a better
quality of life.
