Hi List,

I just noticed that Hanger is going into the O&P health insurance
business. While this is scary for me as a prosthetist, it does show
some promise in alleviating a big threat to both amputees and O&P in
general.

My last two insurance policies have capped prosthetics at $2500 a year
(after a $2000 deductible!), and this is becoming a common occurrence.

I would like to see some posts on what everyone here thinks that Hanger
could do as a good corporate citizen to help amputees, independent
prosthetists, and themselves. If they are successful in the insurance
arena, they could increase coverage to pay for more than a SACH foot and
socket replacement, which may cause other insurances to follow suit.
I'm sure that Hanger will try to make money for themselves, but I really
hope that they will place their (and my) long-term ability to do the
right thing for the amputee ahead of short-term gains.
