I have been reading responses since last night, and I am finding a commn theme as most people are. No one is belittleing BOC although it sounds that way. I know several BOC as well, and they are good practitioners. Mr. Partrain received education without getting the ABC letters along with many others that I know as well. What I am saying is that ABC required education to go their pathway. Am I a better, hopefully wiser practitioner for it? I hope so. And to the ABC board that tells me my education can never be taken away - you are correct.
UNFORTUNATELY, Mr. Yakovich, whom did not reply to me directly, and other board members have lost sight of what the real issue is. It's not about education at this time. It's not about ABC over BOC or vice versa. It's about the deciet from our own board members in telling us to get the education, make a difference, and distinguish ourselves from the rest of the organizations. It's about selling memberships for $75, while requiring inordinate sums of money to go the ABC pathway for current ABC members.
My emails have not been pleasant, because this is not a pleasant situation. I have had several responses from board members that have not been pleasant in nature, because the truth hurts. As others, I am joining BOC today and will carry dual memebrship, and see what the future and the abc board have to say over the next 9 months. I hope this situation can be rectified without much bloodshed within ABC.
Good luck to all practitoners. Please provide the best patient care possible. For those people without much education, please do your best to get it - even if it means one class at night or onlineper semester. It means the world to our patients whom place their faith in us to be doing the right thing.
Respectfully,
Jason Frisch, ABC CO, soon to be BOC
