As an abc practitioner with 5.5 years of experience, I have learned one thing: all current members of abc have gone through some type of testing and education to achieve our current, recognized status as the highest credentialed and educated practitoners in the country and some may say the world. Even the practitioners that are in over 40 years have proven time and time again their knowledge and education, because they are the ones that taught people like myself what it means to truly be an abc practitioner. To all of those people that have taught, thank you. To Frank Friddle and the other members of the abc board, you should be ashamed of yourselves for disgracing the profession and its members the way you just have.
Not only did you present an idea that will eventually open this profession to all other prfessions - pt/ot - but you also devalued what education and knolwedge - power - abc had over boc. It is my feeling along with so many others that I want all of my money back - education, exams, dues, etc. At least boc can vote on their board and its ideas and laws from my understanding. Instead we are force fed your lines of bull through telephone calls and letters and told that this is the right thing. How is this right again?
What if all abc practitoners, whether they like Don Fedder or not, join boc for substantially less money and legitimize boc in the government's eyes due to its educution based practitoners? And at the same time boc practitoners can join abc and bring no education for the majority and a video/test and weaken its position in the government's eyes? Would the 2 organizations then not have to switch their mission statements? What in God's green earth were you people thinking when you made this decision, because it obviously wasn't about abc and its ideals and standards.
To all abc practitoners, is their a way to remove the board through organizations like AOPA and NCOPE and replace them with people that will keep abc and its standards intact? If not then go boc.
I have no quarrels with boc becoming abc practitoners if they can pass the current abc exams - the gold standard - and then they are willing to pay all fees and dues associated with our organization.
What are people's thoughts about leaving abc and joining boc? I think abc practitoners might be in a better situaution and have a vote. If the government is going to continue to recognize boc and its standards why not give them legitimacy from an education standpoint and be done with the soap opera that is now abc.?
Thank you for everyone's time.
