It would be unreasonable to think, as ABC credentialed individuals, that
when the two bodies merged, that the BOC orthotists and/or prosthetists
would not expect to also become orthotists and/or prosthetists in the new
organization. If they didn't why would they agree to 'join' ABC? Likewise
if an ABC person took BOC up on their offer, they would expect the same
treatment.
I would have hoped that both boards would have been able to take care of the
details in a mature and professional matter seeing the goal of one
organization as in the best interests of the profession.
The only complaint I have at this point is in the lack of open communication
from ABC.
The message from Lance Hoxie on March 5th was not very clear and did not
explain the case for why ABC was taking the action it did. Frank Friddle
and Jeffrey Yakovich both posted one email publicly. Neither was specific
as to why the decision was made or what impact of the decision could have on
the numbers of credentialed individuals or facilities.
The message to the list from Jason Frisch today contains what he says (and I
have no reason to doubt his word) is a forwarded message from Lance Hoxie.
In that message there are a number of very valid arguments supporting why
the decision of the Board of Directors was made. But why didn't Lance just
post that to the list directly?
Why does ABC not respond to the dozens of requests from the list? Or for
that matter, requested by email directly from a credentialed individual
about such an important topic.
These conversations have been going for 4 days now and still nobody from ABC
has attempted to quantify the numbers of people we are talking about. This
silence is not a good thing. Why will ABC not tell us the numbers publicly?
Why are the emails send through someone else and not directly posted?
What are the numbers? How many new credentialed individuals are possible as
a result of this offer? How many title extensions? How many new
technicians? How many new associates? How many new facilities? Let us
have an informed discussion. ABC has these numbers.
