Dear OANDP-L:
Greetings from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada-our Nations Capital.
In July of 2004 (July 21-24) our city will host the 14th Biannual Canadian Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CAPO) conference. The CAPO conference is the largest national prosthetic and orthotic event held in Canada. Over 250 prosthetic and orthotic delegates will gather to attend scientific presentations, workshops and to visit more than 70 supplier exhibits. The theme for CAPO 2004 is: Technological Advances in Prosthetics and Orthotics.
The National Capital Region is home to just over 1 million people. The region is an exciting place to visit in the summer with its numerous museums, the parliament buildings, the Rideau Canal, the Byward Market shopping and nightlife, and wide variety of outdoor activities. Just over the bridge in neighboring Quebec, visitors can enjoy hiking and/or biking in gorgeous Gatineau Park or perhaps try their luck at the Hull Casino.
We have assembled an impressive early slate of speakers including Jan Ertl, MD (the Ertl amputation procedure), Robert Gailey, PhD, PT (functional measures in Prosthetics and the active lower limb amputee), Eva Haggstrom, CPO (osseointegration techniques in Sweden), Anne Hollister, MD (joint biomechanics), Kellie Leitch, MD (effective lobbying), Chris Morris, MSc, CPO (orthotic research and treatment of cerebral palsy) and Marlo Ortiz, CP (MAS above knee socket design). Some space is still available for manufacturers workshops and free papers if you have an interesting case study or technique to present.
Our conference link ( <URL Redacted>) provides some further information about CAPO and Ottawa and the Call for Papers. If you are not interested in presenting, why not think about attending as a delegate? Registration packages can can be requested via <Email Address Redacted> Hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Conference Organizing Committee
