Hello,
I have a question to pose to the group.

Recently I read in the early december issue of O&P business news that ABC members were not going to be allowed to vote on the ABC/BOC merger as reported from RENO by an ABC board member. IS IT THAT ABC ONLY WANTS OUR MONEY AND NOT OUR OPINIONS/VOTES?

It is interesting that we pay annual dues/renewal fees but we are not considered members of our own organization. This merger is significant on several levels - numbers within the ABC organization to fight legislative battles, educational standards, membership dues (more of it), unification of the profession. I understand the reasoning to a degree behind the merger, but with the federal govenment wanting to increase education standards why should we even consider weakening ours to get more numbers in the short term? If there is a medicare reimbursement freeze for the next 3 years, then ABC should create pathways for BOC members specifically to join our organization, not the least of which is passing ABC exams as they stand right now.

Respectfully,
Jason Frisch, ABC Co
