The following are the responses I got concerning socket bladder systems for
volume control.

Tim, good success with the Pneu-fit. Only one patient, but it worked
well. His RL fluctuated in size a lot, and he was able to accomodate that
with
the Pneu Fit. Can be retrofitted to existing sockets.

Just a thought Tim...
Volume loss can be a real problem for amputees. I prefer to treat the
cause rather than the symptom. Have you considered what vacuum will do in
preventing residual limb volume reduction? I'm sorry I can't help with the
bladder systems but I feel they simply put a Band-Aid on the true
problem.
Best of luck.

Only tried Pneu-fit once. Worked OK, but was prone to leak.
Please forward me any good news on bladders, I have used nu-fit, and it
works great but starts to leak in about a month. At $100+ per bladder, it
takes
the fun out of it. So I am looking for a better bladder. Thanks Paul Weott

I have used the IPOS systems for KD and BK suspensions and volume
changes. The bladders are durable and easy to fabricate. The biggest hurdle I
have found is patient compliance with the maintainence of the system(they
will pump it until it explodes). The valve and pump are a little unsightly
and make for difficult finishing.I know this might sound alittle old fashion
but, have you thought of an old style onion skin type prosthesis? In my
opinion,I would try everything I could before ending up with a bladder
system. They just aren't like a well fitting TC socket but,if you use one for
a BK try a secoundary suspension and leave the bladders for volume control.I
believe the model is called PSA the Pump.Good Luck.
