OK, all you cowboys, lookin' for a dynamic style boot foot that is usable
with an exoskeletal prosthesis. Heel needs to be 1 to 1 1/2. The only
one I can find is Kingsley's boot foot which won't do cause its just a SACH.
I guess I could use a hi heeled ladies foot if I can find one thats dynamic
in style and large enough and which will set up on an exo leg.
All help would be appreciated. I will post replies.
So ya'll let me hear from ya now, OK?
Responses:
Call Freedom Innovations and ask for the new patient adjustable heel height
DR foot.
----------------
You might want to look into the elation foot from ossur. It can adjusted to
different heel height as well as it has different bumper to help adjust the
dynamic of the foot.
---------------
Hopefully your patient will cut you some slack on the cosmesis. Sounds like you could use a Century XXII Elation foot which has an adjustable heel height. You would have to use a four-hole female pyramidon a 5R1 block which is glued/laminated to the distal end of your shin block. There is also a new device called a HEELRAISER (800.499.5462) that will turn any endo foot into an adjustable heel height up to
2 1/4. Again you will have to use a 4-hole and 5R1.
--------------
The Runaway from Freedom Innovations could be adapted in a hybrid exo/endo and be able to accept a cowboy boot. The foot won/t ship until mid december from what I have heard. It looks kinda neat, check it out on their web site.Have fun.
-------------
You might get by with grinding down the heel of Kingsley's foot with
the carbon blade in it. I remember that there is quite a bit of foam
there. I'm sure if you give Jeff Kingsley a call, he will be happy to
tell you exactly how much is there.
Other than that, there is the option of molding a carbon foot plate to
the Kingsley boot foot, and gluing it to the foot with the Springlite
urethane that is used on Chopart feet.
If you can live with a hybrid endo-exo, then you may want look into the
Runway from Freedom Innovations.
-------------
We just fit a guy yesterday in heeled cowboy style work boots with a college
park foot. He had used a greissinger previously, but was very happy with
the college park. Call them and ask them about it, they can reccomend the
appropriate bumpers to use and the appropriate alignment. It can be set up
as an exo.
-------------
In the past, we used to use the old Otto Bock Greissinger. It had a 25mm
heel height and would work well in most applications. We have also used the
updated versions of this foot with moderate success.
-------------
The Flexwalk comes as a 3/4 heel. I wonder if you could get the rest with
some creative crepe placement to get the forefoot flatter at the higher heel
height?
-------------
Have you considered trying the SAFE Adjustable foot? We have used it on both men & women and although it is not the best foot for dynamics it is considerably better than a plain sach foot.
------------
Try ELation from Ossur.
------------
Try Kingsley symes type foot or OWW symes foot Hi heel with DAS MARS ankle joint for increase ROM and dynamic response .
------------
We can make the K03 Cowboy Hiheel in a STEN, which is a flexible keel
foot with a little more dynamics than a SACH. (L5972) (from Kingsley)
------------
Thanks to everyone who responded.
