Ossur North America Inc. and Freedom Innovations
Agree to Settle Federal and State Cases
IRVINE, Calif. (December 9, 2003) - In a court ordered mediation on December
8, 2003, Ossur North America Inc. and Freedom Innovations Inc. agreed to
settle all litigation associated with the Federal and State court cases.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the settlement, the terms of which
are confidential, but involve product licensing.
Eythor Bender, the President of Ossur North America commented: Ossur is
pleased to have resolved its dispute with Freedom Innovations so that it can
continue to invest heavily in product development that benefits the
prosthetic community. We invest an industry leading 8% of our revenue in R&D
and will continue to defend our intellectual property to protect that
investment.
Richard Myers, the President and COO of Freedom Innovations also commented:
We are very satisfied with the outcome of the mediation and are pleased
that Ossur was willing to reach a mutually agreeable business resolution to
settle our differences. We believe this benefits both our companies and more
importantly the entire prosthetic industry to have these suits behind us.

After being out of the office for a couple of days I just checked the
Kaupthing website to see what's happening with Ossur's stock. Seems Ossur
and Freedom have reached a licensing agreement in arbitration and all suits
have been dropped.
