Hello All,

I have an elderly patient who suffered a stroke 18 months ago. She was
fit with an elastic shoulder support called the OmoTrain (by Bauerfeind)
at another facility one month ago. That device has proven effective in
managing the shoulder subluxation problem. However, now she is having
problems with skin irritation/breakdown in the axilla and upper arm.
The loss muscular control and subsequent atrophy has resulted in very
loose, mobile skin in this area and the skin is extremely thin and
fragile.

Has anyone found a good solution for this problem? My thought is that
something that would contain the tissue and reduce the friction between
the skin and the support would probably work, but I have been unable to
come up with anything that she can don without running the risk of
subluxing the shoulder in the process.

I'm open to any suggestions and will post the responses... thanks in
advance for your help!
