Dear list,

I was wondering what your favorite knee units are for patients with very long transfemoral residual limbs. I have an individual with a residual limb which is only allowing about 1 to work with in order to match knee centers. I am considering a Total Knee at this point, but feel that the patient has incredible potential to rapidly develop good active stance phase control and may benefit from something that allows more active control of the knee. I am concerned that starting him with a knee system with as much stance phase stability as the Total Knee provides may actually be a limitation over the long run. I am interested in your thoughts and experiences in this area.

Happy Thanksgiving!
