Below are some of the over 60 responses I received regarding the DAW telemarketing program. All responses were to complain regarding DAW. The responses are in one of three categories:
1.DAW will not stop calling until you threaten them, even then they will call back.
2.DAW makes claims and promises regarding the products that they cannot support with any real science.
3.DAW makes coding and billing recommendations to increase reimbursement for their products to convince you to buy, but the recommendations are incorrect.
According to the responses, there appears to be one of two ways to stop DAW calling
The most effective way seems to stop using DAW products. DAW seems to only call its customers, so if you stop purchasing, they will stop calling, as soon as you purchase an item, you go back into the data base and they start calling all over again.
The second approach is to contact DAW in writing and threaten to stop purchasing products if you receive any more calls. The e-mail address to DAW is
<Email Address Redacted>
According to the responses, you need to be very firm with your message, tell DAW in your message that if you recieve one more call you will stop purchasing any products immediatly.
Follow are the responses received.
I remember last year when they were claiming that you could use a different code for their sock- sheath system. They insisted that they had the okay from the DMERC's- but we never recieved that particular information in writing.
I have a similar experience to yours. I refuse to take calls from DAW and have instructed my staff to take a message. If I want info from DAW I will call them
DAW used to have quality products, then the prices went up adn the quality went down. It all happened when DAW was struggling to get out of bankrupcy, you may remember a few years ago when DAW's bank did a mailing to all DAW customers asking us to send our checks directly to the bank. After that, DAW closed the office in Atlanta and Minneapolis and all the sales staff left and then the telemarketing started. I just stopped purchasing the products, and after 6 months, the calls stopped.
DAW convinced me to use their products because with the new coding that DAW had received approval for would increase my profit line. So I used the product, used the codes DAW said they had the OK from DMERC’s, and then I did not get paid and ended up with an audit due to coding irregularities. When I ask DAW to support me and provide the documentation they said they had when they sold me the socks and sheaths, no one would return my call.
I fell for the trick of one of the DAW sales people. I broke down and agreed to have them send me some info, the next day a new knee arrived with an invoice. When I called to return it, they said there would be a 15% restocking charge. What a joke. They will do anything they can to push a sale, they should be sanctioned for their actions.
I went through that years ago when I first tried their products. I finally had to tell them that I would never order from them again because of their pushy sales people. They finally stopped calling.
No you are not the only person with this problem. We have told them to stop calling and two weeks later they call again saying we were never told to stop calling
I have the same troubles with DAW and I know I have had conversations with many other practitioners who share in our complaints. I encourage you to continue your initiative because I too and tired of them.
Our office has also had problems with DAW. We were receiving weekly and sometime daily sales calls. I finally told DAW they are being a nuisance and if they did not stop calling I would not purchase anything from them period. Problem solved!
This has been going on for several years. We have chosen to NOT use Daw products (with the exception of some of their sheaths) because of their tactics. After awhile, they stopped bugging us. I think the best line that I have used with them is I'm busy, fax me the information and then hang up. Most of the time they forget to send the fax.
No, you are not alone in receiving annoying calls from them. We were receiving @ least 2 calls a week & in some instances, 2 a day!!! We have caller ID, so I knew when it was them calling. I called & spoke to a manager in complaints & was assured that the calls would end. They did from the rep that had been calling, but then someone else took over. I called this so-called complaint manager and informed her that if I received one more unsolicited sales call, I would close our account & contact the BBB. That was 3 months ago & I have not had another call since. I guess they only understand threats of losing business before the harassment stops.
Daw has been placed on my company's do not interrupt me list. I too have asked politely to be taken off of their call list, but to no avail. I will NOT take a call, or place an order with DAW because of their tactics. DAW are you listening???
I have stopped buying anything from them due to their harrassment, they just won't let up. I gave them many chances almost to the point of filing harrassment charges against them. I hope that you don't need to go that far. good luck
DAW has become the joke of the industry. They have not come out with a new product in years and do anything they can to push whatever they can sell.
I have the same darn problem. I have told them more than once to never call me again and that I will never order from DAW as long as I draw breath. I have even been sent one of their computer knees overnight that I didn't order. The owners of the facility that I work at were kinda peeved when they sent us a $5,000 bill for something that I never contemplated ordering. I used to use DAW skins alot and now that M'care has problems paying for them,I stopped ordering the skins. I can't shake the DAW reps off the phone. I have even talked to the bossman Hugo and no luck. I for one will make sure that DAWroducts never enter the facilties that I will work at. Good Luck, I hope you are able to get rid of them. After five years I am still rejecting their calls
I simply tell the caller that I will NOT buy anything from DAW if they call me again. It worked some because it was a while before the next call, but since that call I have not purchased anything from them.
Integrity and honesty is dead at DAW, all they care about is sales and profits. I used to work in Asia and the same knee from Teh Lin in Asia costs less than half of what it does in the USA.
The facility that I work at experiences the same cold calling by DAW. I am a prosthetic technician and there is nothing worse when I'm involved in a project and have to stop to answer their sales pitch. Our facility has also asked politely to stop. They continue to call without regard.
No, your not alone or paranoid. The practitioners in our department have notices posted around the lab that state, We are not taking calls or messages from DAW industries...just hang up!.
They are the biggest Pita's ever. I told them countless number of time not to call but it didn't work. I think everyone should buy about $5,000.00 of their goods and not pay them until they stop calling. When they do then; think about sending the stuff back.
The best way I know to deal with Daw is an approach I have taken for years. Don't deal with them. Funny I don't get the phone calls anymore.
I had the same problem with them. I solved it by calling their sales manager and telling her to take our company off their phone list. If they do call (they've called once in about 6 months) I tell them not to call again and then complain to the sales manager. I've also told them it's okay to mail or fax information, or I'd be happy to see their products at local or national trade shows. This is to let them know that I'm still willing to work with them if they are willing to respect certain boundaries. Otherwise, I've told them not to bother me, and if they continue to harass me, I'll stop using any of their products altogether. These tactics seems to have worked successfully. I really hate it when the salespeople try to chat with you or tell you jokes like they are your best friend. Really annoying. Anyway, I hope this helps.
We seem to have been successful at getting our selves off the DAW phone list. I finally asked the phone salesman to let me speak to his supervisor. I then expressed myself quite clearly as to how counterproductive telephone sales calls were and would be in the future and demanded to be removed from their call list. You are not alone in your reaction. I've discussed this in groups of clinicians and all are at the least annoyed while many are offended.
I became so irritated that I grabbed a call and told them to NEVER call my office again after asking politely not to make sales calls to our office. It worked for a while then the a call is on hold for you...someone regarding a cosmetic cover? comes from my secretary. I don't think the sales people even work for DAW. They sound like punk So. Cal kids.
Yep! they are a pain in the Butt!
DAW is very aggressive in their phone solicitations to the point of being annoying. I, too, resent the constant interruptions. Call the CEO and tell him to put you on the DO NOT CALL LIST.
I have had a similar problem with constant calls, and have recently resorted to being more than 'short' with the sales staff.
I have yelled at DAW people before to STOP CALLING. It is beyond my tollerence and professional courtesy. Since they call me, I tell them, now I dont need to call them and order supplies. They will go away eventually.
Everyone finds their solicitation tactics very annoying. I have told them so recently on an independent survey funded by the AOPA Almanac. Maybe they might get the drift
No DAW is OUT OF LINE, I don't purchase from them because of this practice.
We have been dealing with this problem for YEARS! Have repeatedly asked them to stop. They definitely interfere with day to day business and are quite obnoxious and even unprofessional at times. We are not sure what else to do about the problem at this point. DAW, if you are reading these posts, please take our advice, Change your sales techniques. Pushiness does not work!
