AMPUTEE FIREFIGHTER PLAYS ROLE IN FIGHTING CALIFORNIA DISASTER

October 28 - Running Springs CA - Glenn Malmskog
may only be getting 2 or 3 hours sleep tonight,
but he does not feel tired, he has more on his
mind than sleep.

I have been working 22 hrs straight with 2 - 3
hrs of sleep per day since I reported, tonight is
no exception. said Glenn in a recent email.

This is a very angry and dangerous fire, 15
people have been killed, one Firefighter from the
mountain was hospitalized for 2° and 3° over 40%
of his body.

The very winds that are saving many cities down
below are driving the fire up the mountain.
Tomorrow after sunrise we will most likely be
facing a 40 mile long firestorm moving at 25 - 60
MPH. Large parts of Crest Line, Lake Arrowhead
and Blue Jay are already gone.
Glenn has more to lose than just sleep, his own
house and property are in the path of the fires.
...if it gets past Running Springs I will lose
my house and everything I own except a few things
I have in my car. My Grandfathers flag w/ 48
stars some pictures, my Law Enforcement sidearm,
toys and clothes for my daughter.

The decision has already been made that we will
not leave our district. If we are pushed back to
CSA 38, at that point there will no longer be any
town left to save. We will move to our safety
zone at Snow Valley Ski Resort and deploy fire
shelters if we are over run.

Glenn Malmskog is California's top amputee
stuntman, explosives technician and a volunteer
firefighter with the Arrowbear Lake Fire
Department.
