I personally would like to thank the two Practitioners that took it upon
themselves to forward to us the posting on the O&P ListServe. First and
foremost, I have read with shame the many complaints expressed on the
ListServe concerning the calls from our DAW people that were both unwelcome
and disruptive to many of you. I sincerely apologize to each and every one
of you.
At the same time, I can only blame myself for not being accessible enough so
that many of you could have contacted me personally. I can assure you I
would have gotten to the bottom of the problem much sooner. Until now, I was
under the impression that anybody who asked not to be called was removed
from the calling list.
I started DAW 30 years ago with just the DAWFlo socks and Sheaths which my
father David invented. I knew that DAW would make every amputees’ life
better if only Practitioners would give me the time. Many opened their doors
to me and furthermore provided their patients with DAWflo improving the
amputees comfort even while hurting their own bottom lines.
Today DAW is driven by the same conviction. There is no excuse for
overzealous employees who MUST respect your demanding schedule.
In the same way you the Practitioner need to communicate directly with
prescribing Physicians and gatekeepers. We at DAW need to communicate with
you by other means than just e-mail, direct mail or advertising.
I just received an e-mail today telling us: “we know your products, don’t
call us, we’ll call you”. Unfortunately, we all know that without a personal
direct communication we cannot hear your needs which are the key to new
and/or improved product development. Within a week, I will contact you
individually BY MAIL. I sincerely hope that you will return to our 800 fax
number the enclosed questionnaire with which YOU can define YOUR guidelines
on how DAW can ideally service you and your patients.
It has never been our intent to cause anyone inconvenience. However, a month
ago at a recent prosthetic meeting it was stated that our SLK Knee does not
have a microprocessor. This is a perfect example: we need to quickly let you
know that such a rumor is false.
If you will “put up with us” learning YOUR desired guidelines, we promise to
always be here to provide you with the best products for your amputees.
I respectfully thank you for your understanding and patience.
