Dear list:
Here is a question for the pedorthotists out there! I am looking for a shoe
that will accommodate a foot with the 1st toe amputated, and extreme dry
gangrene of the 2nd and 3rd toes. There is also a heel sore on one foot. I
don't want to do a custom shoe until the two toes are amputated, but the
client needs to be wearing a shoe. I am thinking about some type of healing
shoe with open toe area. Client has not been able to get his foot into a
closed shoe due to pain. This client is diabetic, by the way. Both feet
are involved, which seems to contraindicate an off-loading shoe. Any
suggestions would be helpful.
Sincerely, Paula Martinek, L.P.O.
