Dear List~
Here are the few responses I received to my question of preferred silicone
liner usage. I must admit, I was somewhat disappointed in the number of
responses as I am certain silicone suction suspension use is a prevelent trend in our
field. This list serve is only as good as the participation.

I use a liner made in Germany, to date i have not had the problems which you
experience. The company offers stump care agents which prevent
rashes/irritations,
this works well to eliminate the said problems.
Have a look at their web page for further info

Joel, I have had experience with Fillauer silicon liners (the early pink
silicon type (too many skin reactions and poor durability only 3-8months);
Alps (again similar results) Silipos locking siloliners ( excellent skin
compatibility, low durability, good for light-moderate users); Tec Profile
(heavy, but very good durability, no skin problems); and more recently the
new Silipos Explorer? range (of which I haven't yet used enough to form a
reliable opinion).
Consequently, I do not use any of the Fillauer or Alps except for those few
patients who have found them to work for them; in all caes I only use
pre-flexed liners.
Hope that this helps
I thought I would
share my most recent experience with T.T. liners. I am a Right BK 22years
post-op. I have never had any luck with any brand of liner because of the
ordinary reasons, this one didn't feel right , that one made me break
out,etc.,etc. I recently tried the custom liner from Otto Bock, and I love
it. Comfortable no skin irritations, extremely thin proximally(1/16) , and
so far indestructable, trust me I tried to tear it .
