My question was:
There is a set of socket pulling tool for sale on ebay but they look far
more modern than any I've seen before. Dose anyone recognize these and
know who made them?

Ted:
They look like a set we have had in our department for 50+ years that were
used to fab wooden sockets years ago. The only difference I see is these
are polished to shine

I can't see the cutting end of the tools clearly but they apear to be
wood carving tools. Seems to me sockets, etc, were fabricated from wood
blocks. I'll bet Bill Daniels in Florida can tell you. Gordon

They said the shafts were chromed, I suspect they sanded down the handles.
The combination makes them look new

I can't say positively but they look like they're from Knit-Rite circa
1950-60. I have a very similar looking set that my dad bought from Knit
Rite, probably in 1959. It's possible that they were made by someone else
and distributed by Knit Rite.

I have one that is similar that I've had for at least 20 years. I have
no idea who made it.

I appreciate the input. I'm not planning to bid on these but they did
provoke my curiosity. I do have one old pulling knife but it lacks the
chrome finish and has brass fittings on the wood handle. I would love to
have a set to match. Somehow the chromed finish doesn't appeal to me the
same as the one I have.
