The Academy continues its Advanced Training Series with a three-day intensive look at Biomechanical Design of Lower-Limb Orthoses: Clinical Application of Science and Technology, November 6-8, in Chicago.
This advanced course was developed for practitioners who wish to increase their knowledge of the practical application of biomechanical principles to the prescription, design, fabrication, and fitting of custom-made lower-limb orthoses. Practitioners will focus on making scientifically based, clinically driven decisions based on objective data about each patient's individual physical condition and functional deficits.
Participants will learn the important distinctions between the two major orthotic control mechanisms, demonstrate the prediction of the effects of specific orthoses on proximal joint function and Create a detailed prescription recommendation for the least intrusive orthosis that is biomechanically necessary based on a systematic evaluation of the external movements being produced at each joint in the lower limb.
The course has been awarded 24 PCE credits.
