I'm an ABC CPO with over 25 years experience. I have a problem with Ossur's OAF program when they have listed the facility in the next town to me as an OAF. The practitioner is not certified. How is that facility more qualified than mine to provide prosthetic services? Is this a buyer rated accreditation? Because his parent company has bought into the OAF program all of a sudden this satellite facility is more qualified than mine to provide those services?

I'm curious if other facilties have the same thing going on? How many OAF's are actually staffed by certified practitioners and how many are just on the list because they paid the Ossur dues? I'm sure that the facility will say that they have a practitioner on hand if needed. But that's not the same as a full time staff member.

If you say that you're OAF shouldn't you be qualified at the minimum certification as one of the basic elements of membership? Shouldn't the facility be fully staffed? I have a feeling that when the true nuts and bolts of the program are exposed, there may be about 1/2 as many qualified facilities.
