Kudos to the Academy and AOPA ,their leadership and members for its recent
decision to retain its own identity and independent annual meetings.
Although the relationship between the two organizations is important it is
now even more important than ever for the Academy to continue their own
identity as a professional association whom represent the interests of
the O&P professional and whom have adopted a stronger role in advocating
for appropriately trained and credentialed care to patients requiring proper
qualified O&P services.
Trade industry and professional interests often times have different agendas
and goals.
It is important for the professionals whom deliver O&P services, the patients
that receive them, and the thrird party payers who provide the benefits, to
know the differences.
