Many private inquiries and requests for information of the infrastructure of Neg Reg have been generated as the result of my last post, titled O & P Profession and Patient Defeated at NEG REG .
To revisit some of the particulars of the now defunct 21 member Neg Reg Committee and process..
please review the attached links that were psoted by me at the start of the process last November, for some background information.
Hopefully your respective, credentialing, professional and trade associations whom particpated at Neg Reg and are listed below, will properly inform their members by posting their positions and closing comments to this Listserve.
In the meantime I have been assigned the job for a post Neg Reg committee, of coordinating national disability associations to begin a grass roots effort of O&P patient interests to support a workable proposal to CMS and congressional leaders in order to provide input to a suggested proposed rule.
Any patients or professional interests that know leaders of the organizations, please dont hesitate to contact me at <Email Address Redacted> or 561-394-6514.

Tony, I read you message on the list serve. The 10 committee members on the panel. Were they O and P professionals? I am sorry I do not always keep up with the list serve. If you could give me a simple reply. You may remember my name because I dispensed a BK prosthesis to a recipient of your program by the name of Myung Sook.

In December 2000 ,Congress passed the (BIPA) Benefits Improvement and Protection Act, which was a federal law meant in part, to protect patients receiving O&P services from unqualified providers.
Many providers and patients of these specialized healthcare services, whom are subscribers of the OANDP-L and the Amputee Listserve, have requested from the Barr Foundation, as on of the 21 participants in these meetings, to provide some background leading up to the formation and information pertaining to the Negotiated Rues Committee Process.
Having reviewed the available resources of information, I can suggest to those that have an interest, to review the below site(s) for some valuable background information. In addition, the public is welcome to attend and make comments at the end of each session of the hearings.
The below web sites are accessible to the public and provided by the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists in their role to promote high standards of patient care through advocacy, education, literature and research and thru the (CMS) Centers for Medicare& Medicaid Services.
The other groups that are participating in the hearings are listed in the second and third website address below.
Minutes of the Meetings are available to the public thru the CMS website below.
