Here is a selection of responses I recieved regarding the Ossur Flexfoot
situation, sounds like more than just a few people are being hurt by this
new Ossur program. Keep the feed back alive, we will only be heard if we
make a noise. Still not feed back from Ossur directly.
I now know what OSSUR stands for Only Special Shops Under Ransom. Time
to change my speed dial to Spring Lite.
The OAF program is also another episode in the Hanger vs. Ossur war. Hanger
does not buy Ossur products as a rule (Springlite mostly) so Ossur have
attempted to come up with an alternative to Hanger's 600 or so facilities. I
checked into who was on the list for our area - not many that I would feel
comfortable referring a patient to!! I am also ticked off that they are
contacting potential referral sources and recommending non-ABC facilities,
its a disgrace.
Fit all your flexfoot patients with freedom feet (who Ossur is trying to
squeeze into bankruptcy through legal action). They are more economical and
prosthetist friendly anyway!!
Fit all your SSS patients with Alps or similar alternatives. Avoid all
centryXX11 components also.
If the majority of Prosthetists vote with their feet then they will have no
market at all!! There are certainly plenty of good acceptable alternative
products available. They should learn not to bite the hand that feeds them!!
Its time we taught these guys a lesson. I won't buy any more ossur products,
and I spent over $60,000 last year but I guess thats just peanuts to those
guys. I called ossur and spoke to them and now the rep has been calling to
take me to lunch. He is a drinking buddy with my competitor and that is why
I think they left me out. Let me know if there is any thing I can do to
help you with the fight.
Ossur charges $1,000 to join the group, that means with over 600 practices
they have over million dollars to drive patients away from our us. Ossur
and the OAF companies are the competition, time to start purchasing
Spring-lite and Freedom feet and Alps and TEC liners.
Flexfoot tries to sue spring-lite, now they sue freedom foot and have
created this new program to hurt Hanger (sure, hanger is my competitor, but
the are also a an Ossur a customer just like me). Read the writing on the
wall, if you mess with Ossur, they will try to shut you down and punish you.
Time to vote with your purchase orders. I for one will stop purchasing
from Ossur and Flexfoot and encourage you to follow suit, before it is too
late and Ossur gets enough steam to come after all of us.
Now I am going to question my purchases with Ossur. As a business decision,
how can I support a company with purchases that will actively direct
patients away unless I pay them a ransom beyond the component costs?
I called Ossur and pretended I was a new patient and was thinking of going a
facility that is not an OAF member (I named my facility as the one I was
thinking of going to) they told me I would be better off going to one of the
Ossur accredited practices as I would receive better service. The shop they
recommended is a small hole in the wall with a single practitioner and
located 20 miles away. So much for the $50,000+ in business I did last year
with Ossur, time to shift to Spring-lite, pretty sure they will not sell me
out to my competitors.
Do we stand united and tell Ossur to back off and to stop referring our
patients to affiliated facilities? Can we as a group create this united
front for once?
Could not help but notice that every RDA facility in the entire country is
listed as an Ossur Accredited Facility, even one that is now closed. Those
must be very high standards, a place that is closed is better than mine that
is open. Go figure.
