Dear List Members,
As many of you have, and some of you have not, I refused to sign on to the
Ossur provider network. I saw it then as I see it now...a business ploy to
attract customers via a clever marketing scheme. I believed it was in my own
professional interest not to ally my company too closely with one supplier, and
certainly not under the terms which were presented to me by my Ossur sales
representative.
My great disappointment has not been with Ossur's marketing department...they
were doing their job. My profound disappointment has been with the number of
colleagues and competitors who did sign on to this program. This idea should
have been a resounding failure out of the gate. If you are dependent on the
Ossur marketing department for referrals, perhaps your practice has some serious
problems. Whether your toughest local competitor is Hanger or XYZ Limb
Company, give it your best shot with your talents, abilities and service, give it
your all with competitve pricing via insurance contracting, but for Heaven's sake
don't sell your independence (or in this case should I say 'buy'?).
By the way, EARLY this morning I stopped by the offices of two local members
of the Ossur network and could not find their Ossur decals prominently
displayed. I believe they may be in default of their Ossur contract. If a
representative of Ossur would like to give me a call I would be pleased to report the
offenders - (414) 259-1950.
