Hello my name is bryan, and i am a student at the UW. We currently have a
patient that would like some kind of a knee flexion assist that could be
added to a knee brace with med and lat joints. The pt. has 5/5 on all left
lower ext. and on the the right he has O/5 hip ext/abd/add, hip flexion is
5/5. Knee lt. 2/5 knee flexion 5/5 knee ext. and a flaccid ankle. Pt was
in a motorcycle accident and received L4 and below nerve avulsion.
involvement could be higher. It is believed his only way of flexing the
knee is with the sartorious muscle. Pt currently uses a solid ankle afo
with a pretibial shell. and uses a cane in the contra hand. Pt would like
more stability at the knee and a knee flexion assist to aid when getting
into cars and eliminate him having to pull his leg into flexion when sitting
with his hands. So any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Bryan
