TLSO Fees Delayed
Date:
3/26/2003
Text:
The new TLSO Medicare fees that some Durable Medical Equipment Regional
Carriers (DMERC) recently announced as going into effect April 1 have
now been delayed. Due to some serious inconsistencies, AOPA and several
AOPA members contacted the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
(CMS) after the release of these new allowables to protest their
implementation. For example, in some cases, a prefabricated device would
have been paid more than a similar custom fabricated item. Based on
these complaints, CMS agreed to reexamine and where necessary,
recalculate these allowables. These recalculated fees are expected to me
implemented on July 1. AOPA has offered to assist CMS with developing
accurate allowables.
