I was happy to see the resident fee has increased from $1000 to $1200.
Thank you for making it harder for facilities to sponsor a resident (for
those lucky enough to have their fee paid). I think it is very expensive to
become a CPO...
$1200 Resident Fee
$250 Application fee
$250 Written exam fee
$250 Written Simulation exam fee
$600 CPM exam fee
Travel to one convenient site for the written exam (airfare, lodging, etc.)
$500
Travel to another, less convenient site for the CPM
$500
Total for ONE certification: (about)$3500
then, you get to do it again one year later!!! $3500 more...
GRAND TOTAL: $7000!!! Then, sometime in your first year... you get to pay
dues for your new letters!!! Yikes!
This may have made sense in the past when CPO's were going to be rich, but I
think it is too much for today's new practitioner. Are there any plans in
the works to reduce this cost to coincide with the inevitable reduction in
practitioner salaries???
I think we should get a red velvet lab coat with gold lettering for those
fees!!!
