Fellow O&P employees:

This e-mail is addressed to any employees who are working for a company that has signed up with a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to manage their payroll, benefits, and Human Resources issues. An example of such a company would be Paychex Business Solutions.

These companies are employer-oriented and employees become employed by the PEO. For matters of law the employee is considered to be co-employed by their O&P employer and the PEO.

In the area of human resources, the PEO tries to minimize the risk to employers with respect to lawsuits, workers comp claims, unemployment claims, etc.

Their paperwork is filled with legal terminology to cover every possible risk to an employer. The document we are being asked to sign appears to put our unemployment benefits at risk should the employment relationship end.

Have any O&P employees had any experience with these PEO's. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike Raney, Ph.D., CO
