I have a small boy with spastic CP (11 years old) that continues to be
able to take off his AFO's by himself. Mom does not help the cause with
her attitude, but he will untie his shoes, undo the ankle straps, and he
pops out. The ankle strap is a padded Velcro strap, and I have attached
a snap at the end in the hopes that his fingers would not be able to
grab it, but he can.
Has anyone come up with a fool-proof system for ankle straps? I think
that the solution is a high top shoe with the laces done up tight and
double knotted.in my office he is not able to undo the knots, but with
the low cut shoes he can get the ankle strap undone.of course mom does
not want to spend the money for new shoes..
Any thoughts would be appreciated
