Text:
Citing insufficient numbers of Latin American registrants the Academy has cancelled plans for simultaneous translation services during the Annual Meeting in San Diego. As of March 1, there were only five practitioners registered from Latin America - the Academy needed at least 50 to be registered to warrant the $8,000 costs. The 2002 meeting in Orlando attracted 46 registrants from Latin America.
While simultaneous translation will not be available in San Diego there will be several bilingual practitioners attending who have helped Spanish-speaking individuals in the past as well as a bilingual assistant at the registration area.
