Dr. Jan Ertl is correct in saying he does the correct procedure !!
Unfortunately, to my knowlege, there are only a handfull of surgeons, which include Drs.Jan and William Ertl, whom perform the true Ertl procedure of osteomyoplastic amputation and reconstruction surgery learned by three family's generations.
In my opinion, shortcuts and modifications to the true Ertl technique have been often applied and can result in unsuccessfull outcomes and worse, discredit the effectiveness of the procedure.
Other surgeons, orthopedic and vascular claim they also perform the technique but it is widely imitated.
Some use screws to anchor the bridge to the fibia and tibia in forming the bridge and others utilize rigid post op surgical dressing to the residual limb. Both of these slight variations can be major and lead to a higher rate of infection.
Providing our videos to amputees, prosthetists and surgeons is an ideal way to better and properly identify the proven procedure without modification!!
The Barr Foundation's ultimate goal is to provide amputees and prosthetists with information and a data base of surgeons whom correctly perform the procedure assuring their techniques are genuine and approved as a true Ertl by the family that developed it.
AMPUTEES HAVE THE ABILITY TO BECOME WHOLE AGAIN BY SURGEONS WHOM ARE WILLING TO WORK WITH NATURE .

Ok maybe I should clarify myself. I was wondering of anyone else besides Jan Ertl. MD. I know I set myself up for that one. Thanks I had to laugh when I saw your post.
