Dear list members,
We are coming to the end of another year, and OANDP-L continues to grow
and evolve with the changing times and concerns of our profession. Over
the last year it has been very encouraging to see a much more
professional approach to the use of this forum, and a lot less abuse by
individuals. Hopefully this trend will continue, and the list will
continue to be a place where quality information is freely exchanged in a
neutral, independent and unfiltered forum.
The latest issue of ABC vs. BOC, Education vs. No Education, Profession
vs. Business will probably go on forever. As some have suggested, the
argument is growing old, and it doesn't seem that anything was said that
would sway most people's opinion any further towards the other side.
Anytime one of these issues surfaces on the list there is a due course of
discussion that needs to occur before it is time to move it out, and it
seems to have hit that point. If anyone would like to carry on, feel
free to do so privately or at the Soapbox that is located at the oandp-l
online forum at www.oandp-l.org.
On another note, I hate to sound like a schoolteacher here, but I would
suggest that before posting messages to the list, especially those that
are related to formal education, that a spell check is performed on your
messages. I must admit that it significantly reduces the credibility of
an argument related to professionalism when the posting would receive a
failing grade in a high school English class. Spell check features are
built into most email programs. No matter what your education is, when
you post to a global forum of close to 3000 people, YOU represent the
Orthotics and Prosthetics Profession. Please be aware of the message you
are sending in your messages.
Once again, please refrain from responding in public to messages that
should be responded to privately, and please verify facts before using
this forum to rouse a rabble. Everyone is responsible for keeping this
forum a useful and valuable place.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to everyone and their
families this year. I hope that everyone is enjoying the holiday season
and that you plan to spend as much quality time as possible with your
family and loved ones.
