I have been recently dubbed compliance officer and am in charge of P&P
changes/updates and assuring that we meet all the HIPAA, OIG, ABC,
Medicare and XYZ requirements. I am interested in gathering a small
group (e-mail correspondences) of interested parties to assist each
other with some of the challenges involved in understanding all this
mumbo-jumbo. I thought I was pretty well prepared, but got some dunno
questions during my in-service training last week. For example, if a
patient cannot sign, an X and witness signature will suffice. But
what if the patient can sign, but is unable to write the date? Will a
witnessed X for that suffice? I just dunno! If anyone is interested
in such a group, please respond. If we can gather a few interested
parties, we can spare the whole list-server these specific questions.
