Members of the O&P Community,
We are pleased to report that OPAF's first annual holiday open house was
a great success.
Our guests included OPAF's current president, Joel Kempfer, CP, FAAOP,
president elect Don E. Hardin, and Michael Burton, one of our newest
directors. We also welcomed representatives from a number of nonprofit
and for-profit organizations, including First Union Bank, Institute of
International Education, Slack Incorporated, Vietnam Veterans Foundation
of America, and Washington Council of Agencies. Thank you all for taking
time to visit with us.
During the course of our event, everyone had the opportunity to see
OPAF's new offices and learn more about OPAF's mission and those of its
community partners and its three founders: AAOP, ABC, and AOPA.
A table at the event displayed literature received by OPAF and published
by OPAF's partners and founders, including ABC and NCOPE resources and
the AAOP's just-published brochure about the O&P profession which
directs individuals to the new O&P Careers web site: www.opcareers.org
developed by the Joint Committee on O&P Awareness.
As we have stressed previously, the staffs and members of AAOP, ABC, and
AOPA have been integral to OPAF's growth since its creation in 1995. We
are pleased to represent OPAF's founders in this way so that the general
public can learn about their contributions to O&P and to the individuals
served by O&P professionals.
Thanks very much to O&P Business News for their generous sponsorship of
today's event. Thanks, also, to Blockbuster Video and to the Friends of
the National Library of Medicine for contributing the door prizes that
we awarded.
We look forward to our next holiday open house and to similar events
throughout the year when we will carry forward our official
representation of the U.S. orthotics and prosthetics community in wider
community and philanthropic circles.
Sincerely and with all best holiday wishes to everyone -
Jeffrey S. Reznick, Ph.D.
