Esperanza,

I'm sure after reading the reply from Mr. McCoy you're probably a little
disheartened. I hope, mostly that you're not discouraged. Personally, I am
shocked at the extremely mean-spirited tone of that letter. So, let me just
state my encouragement for the public record, as well.

First of all, the desire for certification is the desire to achieve in
your field. These are MILESTONES, not final destinations. My hopes are
that no matter how far you go in achieving certification(s), that you never
stop learning and mostly, never stop providing expert, compassionate and
professional care. If you don't have the heart, no credential is going to
give it to you. If you do have the heart, letters like Mr. McCoy's won't
stop you.

I myself, am one of those people who took and passed the BOC
exam..(Mr. McCoy's quotes). I worked hard at it, studied hard for it and
am extremely proud of it. I can tell you with certainty that the ABC
practitioners I work with every day, are proud to have me on their team. I
bring the same amount of integrity, dedication and energy as any of them. I
love the work as much as any man in the field, and each day I celebrate the
opportunity to do some real good in this crazy world. And to think, they
even pay me for it! How great is that?

In the future, I'll achieve ABC certification, as well. I'll be very
proud of it, as well. Will it change me? Yes. It will change me the way
ANY learning changes a person. It will change me the way tomorrow will
change me. When I do get my ABC certification, and I'm working next to
another practitioner, I'm going to look at the way he performs his job, the
way he addresses and treats his patients, and his passion for the work he
does. If he's deficient in any of those areas, that decorated parchment he
has on his wall, in the fancy frame.. well, it's just a nice decoration.
Isn't it?

If I can be of any help to you in studying please feel free to contact
me.

I doubt you will find any BOC study guide material. My understanding is
the exam is so pathetically easy anyone can pass. Before any of you
(especially Stan) decide to bash me for these comments, please consider
that I have been told this by BOC credentialed individuals and I am
simply repeating their comments. One individual told me she was
embarrassed to even put the credential on her business card ( a sales
rep. for DeRoyal) because the exam and credential (and I quote) are a
joke. Besides most of you already have formed your opinions regarding
this matter and we have all spent a great deal of energy discussing
this issue. However, if someone who is unaware of these facts asks for
information, I'll help educate them.

Happy Holidays
