I have a hardware challenge. I have a 25 year old college student, active
but not an athlete, weight 152 pounds, who I'm fitting with a PFFD type
prosthesis. The limb and socket extend well below the anatomical KC on the
sound limb and revision surgery is not an acceptable option. Hip anatomy
is actually normal and intact, the amputation is due to birth injury, not
true PFFD.
If I use the foot component that the client would like, a low profile
Ceterus, I will only have about 4 (10cm) for a knee unit. I'm looking for
a knee with a proximal and distal four hole pattern but those are very
limited, especially for someone at functional level 3-4. Historically I've
had this client on a wide variety of knees including the SNS but a simple
four-bar friction knee from Proteor (sold by DAW as a Geri-Lite) has been
the favorite of the client. I may just go with a basic constant friction
knee but I'd like something a bit more cosmetic and functional
Any suggestions? OWW discouraged me from using their Geo-Flex as it is
intended for the lower activity level amputee.
